My ParentBook: The face behind the name

A bit about me, the developer of My ParentBook

I was born in NSW, Australia but moved to the 'outback' when I was 8. Living in Darwin wasn't the greatest time of my life, what with all the crocs and jellyfish everywhere! (lol) I guess being so hot and humid all the time played a part in my dislike for the good ol' outback. My first and second daughters were born up there, and they always love heading outback for a holiday.

I was a teen mum, yep.. ill wait while some of you gasp... ok I know most of my readers couldn't care less whether or not I was a teen mum but you know some people still exist out there that would disapprove :P Anyway back on track, I had my first bubba at 16, and am now 26 and I have three little cherubs; two daughters and a son. I'm also studying at university to get my degree in Social Work.

I think the reasons behind starting this website and wanting to be a social worker are very much the same.

I love interacting with a diverse range of people
I love being able to support others even if its just a virtual hug
I don't like feeling alone so I surround myself with people
I essentially want to support parents so that they feel empowered to be the best parent they can be
I firmly believe it takes a community to raise a child and in this day and age most of us do not even know our neighbours so by creating a virtual community 'us' parents can get the moral and social support we need, just in a different form.
Although some children annoy me ( : - P ) I firmly believe that all children have strengths and need to be raised to feel loved and worthy.

So you see my motives behind running this website are not to become CEO of a multi-million dollar company. I simply want to create a place where we can get friendship, support and information; and a bit of fun never goes astray.
