A bit about me, the developer of My ParentBook


I was born in NSW, Australia but moved to the 'outback' when I was 8. Living in Darwin wasn't the greatest time of my life, what with all the crocs and jellyfish everywhere! (lol) I guess being so hot and humid all the time played a part in my dislike for the good ol' outback. My first and second daughters were born up there, and they always love heading outback for a holiday. 


I was a teen mum, yep.. ill wait while some of you gasp... ok I know most of my readers couldn't care less whether or not I was a teen mum but you know some people still exist out there that would disapprove :P Anyway back on track, I had my first bubba at 16, and am now 26 and I have three little cherubs; two daughters and a son. I'm also studying at university to get my degree in Social Work. 


I think the reasons behind starting this website and wanting to be a social worker are very much the same. 

• I love interacting with a diverse range of people
• I love being able to support others even if its just a virtual hug
• I don't like feeling alone so I surround myself with people
• I essentially want to support parents so that they feel empowered to be the best parent they can be
• I firmly believe it takes a community to raise a child and in this day and age most of us do not even know our neighbours so by creating a virtual community 'us' parents can get the moral and social support we need, just in a different form.
• Although some children annoy me ( : - P ) I firmly believe that all children have strengths and need to be raised to feel loved and worthy.

So you see my motives behind running this website are not to become CEO of a multi-million dollar company.  I simply want to create a place where we can get friendship, support and information; and a bit of fun never goes astray.

So here are 5 random facts about me:

1. I play the drums
2. I have a small amount of social anxiety
3. I love dancing but I'm not sure if I'm any good at it lol
4. I hate folding the washing and I'm no fan of the dishes
5. I don't like seafood :O

When my children were born I would often say to myself, why don't kids come with an instruction book? So I decided to create this site, My ParentBook, a place where we can share our parenting stories, ups and downs, questions and worries and more importantly offer support and friendship to one another. 


It's a place where you can get real advice from real people.
My ParentBook is a place where parents can vent, talk, laugh, share, support, gain information, have fun and feel safe. 

This site is fun, fresh and vibrant and member’s suggestions will be taken into account as much possible.


When you join you get your own profile and have your own blog, you can join in many different forum discussions, join a diverse range of groups, participate in live chat discussions and make new friends.


Some new functions we have added:

* You are now able to customize your profile page. You can add widgets, tickers, images and much more!

* Our site has undertaken a major facelift, we would love to know what you think of it.

* We have also introduced a few new groups and forums, check out Crazy Headlines or Kids with special needs.

* We now have a weekly Photo competition running for fun

The launch of our Facebook fan pages has seen many new members join our community and to make it easier for you to invite your friends a "invite your friends" application has been added to our page, take a look :)
